This viral story happened to a homeless student who was accepted into 17 colleges. On his own. And here is what the Typical Student team will tell you about.

Who Is This Student

His name is Dylan Chidick, he is only 17, and he was accepted to 17 colleges. Needless to say, the result is impressing but the fact that Dylan is formerly homeless is even more unusual!

I think it is unfair that people could just buy their way in,” Dylan said.

The problems started in 2017 when Dylan went to the Jersey City high school. Student’s family was homeless after his mother had lost her job. The boy studied in a shelter. His twin brothers had heart conditions and needed extra care. His mother had lost her job.

However, in 2019, Dylan was accepted to 17 colleges. The list includes such schools as:

  • Siena College,
  • Kean University,
  • Caldwell University,
  • and York College of Pennsylvania.

What Is The Secret?

Here is what Dylan says:

I think it is unfair that people could just buy their way in. But I know that it has been happening for a long time, and there is always going to be someone with more privilege and more connections, to have it easier than others. And that means that you have to work harder to achieve the same goals.
