Previously, the Typical Student team told you how popular Australia is for international students. Despite the majority of international students in the down under come from China, the recent data provided by the Austrialan government, suggests that Indian student enrolment surged 25% in 2018.
How Many Indian Students Are Enrolled In Australia?
According to the Times Of India, students from India enrolled in Australian schools in 2018, make 12.4% of the overall international enrolments. In 2018, there was an increase of 24.5% in the number of Indian students in Australia, which lead to the introduction of an 'Additional Temporary Graduate' visa with an "extra year of post-study work rights for international students who graduate from the regional campus of a registered university."
Additional Graduate Visa Benefits
At present, foreign students who study to get a bachelor's or master's degree (2 or 3 years of education) get a two-year post-grad work visa. By increasing the period of a post-study work visa, the Australian government aims to kill two birds with one stone. The government also aims to decongest the popular areas (Perth, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, and the Gold Coast) as well as attract more international students to enroll in Australian educational institutions.
