In 2019, New York College students caught with weed are receiving ‘warning cards’. In this post, the Typical Student team will share with you more details.
The Department Of Education
As you can see, the Department of Education already softened policy on weed smokers among students. However, as a result, there was192% plunge in weed-related NYPD summonses. It happened in the final three months of 2018 just when the department relaxed rules.
By the way, there were only 38 such summonses given out in that period. Comparing to the previous year, it’s not a bad result as there were 111 issued in the same time frame in 2017.
Comments
“The message has been made clear: Hands off the kids. It’s only going to get worse from here,’’ said Greg Floyd, president of the union representing NYPD school-safety agents. “What did we think was going to happen here?”
To avoid further problems, Floyd decided to use cards. To make a long story short, in 2019, NYC students will get “warning cards” instead of criminal summonses for schoolkids over age 16 caught with small amounts of weed.
