University of Iowa Student Gerald Belz Dies Due To Extreme Cold

The Typical Student team is saddened to report that Gerald Belz, a University of Iowa student from Cedar Rapids died at the hospital due to severe frostbite. As reported by FOX28 Iowa, he was discovered “outside of a university building in the cold early Wednesday morning.”

According to the official statement from the UI spokesperson, Gerald Belz, a first-year pre-medicine student, “was found unresponsive behind Halsey Hall around 2:48 AM”  across the street from the Iowa Memorial Union.


Why Has University of Iowa Student Died?




As the investigation continues, the police are suspecting extreme cold as the probable cause of Gerald’s death. No foul play is suspected. The Typical Student team expresses sincere condolences to Gerald’s family and friends.
