An investigation has been started by Wisconsin school district after a prom picture showing a group of mostly white male students holding up a Nazi salute went viral. In the picture, about 50 students from Baraboo High School in Baraboo, Wisconsin are seen with their right arms extended straight in the air which looks a lot like the "Sieg Heil" Nazi salute. The Typical Student team learned more about the situation.
Twitter Thread Made Prom Pic Nazi Salute Viral
According to NBC News, the students are yet to be identified, but the Wisconsin school district is “threatening legal action pending an investigation.” Student journalist Jule Suzdaltsev @jules_su started a Twitter thread where it became clear that students at Baraboo High have suffered from racist behavior of their classmates most of who were captured in the picture.
According to Jule: “It sounds like there is a lot of racist bullying and the school tends to do nothing about it.”
How Did School React to The Incident?
The now-deleted school account tweeted: 'We even got the black kid to throw it up #BarabooProud' which makes it look even more cringeworthy. In response to the incident going viral, the school district official tweeted on November 12:
“The photo of students posted to #barabooproud is not reflective of the educational values and beliefs of the school district of Baraboo. We are investigating and will pursue any and all available and appropriate actions, including legal, to address.”
How Did People React to the Incident?
Not everyone in the pic shared the mass excitement, though. Some students apparently were caught off guard and didn’t manage to leave the on time.
Twitter users expressed their utter disgust with what they saw in the Class 2019 junior prom photo:
