According to what Houts told her subscribers, she had been trying to prank her Doberman named Sphinx. In the footage, you can clearly see the moment when the dog excitedly jumps into the frame which makes Houts angry. She reprimands Sphinx and slaps him on the head. Further, into the clip, Houts continues to berate the dog, shrieks "Stop!" and shoves the dog to the ground. Finally, she allegedly spits on him. As told by People, the video also shows Houts pushing Sphinx and yelling, "Lay down!"

Backlash

The video has been removed from Houts' channel. Still, the viewers managed to share it on social media. Later, Houts shared the edited version of the video, but still removed it after facing the backlash.

Soon after Houts commented on her behavior: “I am not going to play the ‘victim card’ or anything of that sort, but I do want to point out that I am rarely as upset as what was shown in the footage. The bubbly, happy-go-lucky Brooke that you often see in my videos is typically an accurate representation of me, but it’s obvious that I’m playing up my mood in this video when I’m clearly actually frustrated.”

"I want to clarify that I am NOT a dog abuser or animal abuser in any way, shape or form," Houts wrote.

Then she added: "Anyone who has witnessed or heard true animal abuse will be able to clearly see that. My dog, in no way, shape, or form was hurt by any action that I displayed in this video."
