Dating is sometimes a pretty confusing thing, especially when it happens between students. Especially when your date is demanding you to pay over $100 for their meal. One of the Reddit users has recently shared a text exchange he had with his female date, and it’s something to feast one’s eyes on. The story instantly went viral, so the Typical Student team learned more details about it.
What An Expensive Date!
Someone who goes by the name CuteBananaMuffin on Reddit told their story on the subreddit r/ChoosingBeggars. The post titled "Well... There goes the 'friendship' with her" tells the following. After the CuteBananaMuffin had gone on a date with a woman, she refused to go on a second date because he didn’t pay for her meal the first time.
However, he had the legit reason not to as she "ordered a $126 meal of lobster and expensive wine while he had a $20 meal of pasta and a beer." In the end, the woman called him "rude" and implied he was only interested in having sex with her. As for the Reddit users who commented on the thread, they said he had done the right thing.
The Viral Reddit Thread
The text exchange between the CuteBananaMan and his date is pretty exciting. When he asked his date if she wanted to go on a date again, the reply read as follows: "After what you did last time you expect me to go out with you again? Wow."
Naturally, he inquired if there was something he had done wrong. She replied that she had been upset because she had to pay for her own meal.
He was stunned at the price tags for food had been way too extra. Turns out, his date had ordered lobster and an 80 euro ($90) bottle of wine, which made 110 euros ($126) in total. Meanwhile, his meal owns only cost 17.50 euros ($20). To that he replied as follows: "I'm a student, not your sugar daddy." That didn’t sit well with the girl who responded: "Wow you are so rude!!!! I'm never going out with you ever again, if you can't pay for a girl's food then why accepting [sic] the invite[?]"
Then she implied that he'd wanted only to have sex with her, but the convo turned ugly pretty fast. He replied that of course he did, but he realized he "might not have €20 for that."
How Did Other Reddit Users React To The Text Exchange?
One Reddit user commented on the situation as follows: "Anyone that expects that royalty treatment is not someone you want in your life. Good move." Another one said the exchange "Gives women a bad name."
And another one said: "Lobster!! Would love to have seen her face when the bill arrived and you said lets [sic] pay for our own food. She tried a fast one there."
